BMI offers ultra-high and high-vacuum materials processing services. Examples of applications include:
• Annealing of titanium springs for mechanical hearts
• Stress relieving of a variety of materials and welded assemblies
• Applying exotic coatings using sputtering techniques
• Vacuum outgassing of metal and rubber gasket components
precision welding
We routinely manufacture welded stainless steel ultra-high vacuum assemblies. All welding is performed in a filtered-air laminar-flow bench to minimize impurities. Precision welding services include:
• TIG welding with ultra-high vacuum weld integrity
• Arc welding
• Spot welding
water jet cutting
Our computer-numerically-controlled (CNC) water jet cutting services handle up to 12x6 foot sheet and up to 4" thick steel dimensions. Advantages of the technique include:
• Greatly reduced heat-effected zones and residual stress
• Tolerances down to a few thousands of an inch
• CAD drawings can be used for machine control
LEAK CHECKING
BMI offers ultra-high and high-vacuum leak checking services. Our leak checking services include:
• Calibration using helium leak sources validates operation
• In-house welding and brazing to repair problem joints
• In-house capability to produce leak-check tooling
