Sizing and Counting

BMI has developed an array of aerosol measurement products to assist scientists with sizing and counting applications. These include the Scanning Electrical Mobility Sizing (SEMS) System the Humidified Tandem Differential Mobility Analyzer (HTDMA) System. In addition, we have just released the ultra-fast Mixing Condensation Particle Counter (MCPC) and ACCESS – a miniaturized suite of four instruments in one small package.

SEMS

Based on a cylindrical-geometry differential mobility analyzer (DMA), benefits of the SEMS include:

• Range of scanning times from 30 seconds to multiple hours

• Easy-to-use software to control scanning

• Particle diameter size selection between 0.01 and 2.0 micron

HTDMA

The HDTMA measures the growth factor of monodisperse particles over a range of humidities. Benefits include:

• Fully automated growth factor measurements

• Easy-to-use software; integrated control hardware

• Rapid diffusion-based system operates in the 2 to 93% RH range

MCPC

The MCPC grows particles rapidly through the turbulent mixing of particle and butanol-saturated flows. Benefits include:

• Detects particles as small as 5 nanometers

ACCESS Suite

The ACCESS (Aerosol Counting Composition Extinction and Sizing System) is a four-instrument, miniaturized aerosol measurement suite optimized for unmanned aerial vehicle or other applications with significant space, weight and power constraints. The suite includes:

• Ultra-fast Mixing Condensation Particle Counter

• Three-wavelength light absorption photometer

• Optical particle counter

• Eight-channel automated filter sampler
