BMI offers high-vacuum brazing services for active-metal brazing of ceramics to metals when
pre-metallization of the ceramic is not possible. Although the vast majority of ceramic-to-metal
joints are brazed using pre-metallized ceramics, in some applications pre-metallization of the
ceramic itself may not be possible or the material properties of the ceramic and metal may preclude
the use of a pre-metallized ceramic.
BMI offers decades of experience providing high-vacuum brazing services
for active-metal brazing. Examples of past applications include:
- complex high voltage feedthrough assemblies
- 8" diameter ceramic rings to kovar and subsequent welding of the kovar to
stainless steel
- ceramic windows for RF waveguide applications
BMI maintains multiple brazing and material processing furnaces featuring:
- hot zone dimensions as large as 24" x 24" x 24"
- temperature capabilities to 1250 deg C
- programmer controlled for accurate temperature and pressure control
- computer recorded and recorder chart output is available for certification of furnace operations
We offer a complete
vacuum leak-checking facility to verify the integrity of our vacuum brazed and welded components.
