Automated Em Grid Impactor
BMI fabricates an Automated Electron Microscope (EM) grid impactor assembly with a controlled cutoff size and positions for many EM grids.
The body can be rotated to sequentially expose different grids. The design was originally developed at the NOAA Earth Systems Research Laboratory.
Key features of the EM Grid Impactor design include:
- One micron cutoff size and up to 25 EM grids (0.125in/3mm outside diameter)
- Compact size (~4in dia x 3in long cylinder without drive motor assy)
- Easy-to-install EM grid holder plate allows quick grid replacement and minimizes downtime
- Optional motor-drive assembly available for automated sample collection (adds ~5.5in to length)
- Optional integrated flow control system using BMI's laminar flow elements and flow control valves
- Optional brackets available for easy installation into existing instrumentation
