Low Voltage Differential Mobility Analyzer
BMI fabricates a cylindrical-geometry differential mobility analyzer (DMA) with the following
features:
- Particle diameter size selection range between 0.03 and 2 micron
- Aerosol flow rates of 0.1-1 lpm, sheath flow rates 0.5-6 lpm
- Operation at high voltages below 5000 volts
- Use of ceramic or delrin as high voltage insulators
- Reduced potential for arcing inside column due to lower operating voltages
- Optional integrated
flow control system to control all DMA flow rates with
auto-valves
- Software to control size selection and DMA flow rates
- Lower susceptibility to uptake of reactive gases (ie. nitric acid) by ceramic insulators
- Optional integrated relative humidity control system
- Simple construction that facilitates cleaning
- Purchase either column-only or enclosure with flow control (10"x13"x24")
The BMI DMA is a proven design developed at the NOAA Earth System Research Laboratory.
A sample measurement of the monodisperse output of the BMI DMA set to select 100 nm diameter particles, scanned
with an independent, commercially available DMA is shown in the figure.
BMI also offers a
charge neutralizer body for use with the DMA.
